John Williamson, Manchester, England, to his brother, William Williamson, Watsonville, California, 13 November 1869
Description
Photocopied ms., not transcribed; no notes except the following. A poor, hard-to-read photocopy. Thanks William for his long-awaited letter, which took only 23 days in transit. Sorry that William's young son was very ill (he died later). The Williamsons in Ireland and England circulate among themselves every letter they receive from their siblings in California. John is glad to learn that William is still doing well in the "timber trade" and that James is with him. Asks if William has ever considered importing goods from Ireland or England into California; clearly, John would like to establish a transatlantic business partnership, but it seems that nothing came of the suggestion. Notes the death of his wife's father.
