John Williamson, Manchester, England, to James Williamson, New Almaden, Santa Clara Co., California, 22 September 1868
Description
Photocopied ms., not transcribed; no notes except those below. John is glad to learn that James is healthy and doing well, but he's upset at how James spends his Sabbaths and associates with Freethinkers. Fond, somewhat sad reminiscences about the family, the passage of t ime and the generations since James emigrated long ago. Family news: Hugh, Sally, and Harriet are comfortable at Rockmacreeny. Robert is very successful and highly respected at Ahory. John and Catherine Asten are well. John, the writer, is at the same trade. Benjamin is back in Leeds after a year in Dublin, which he didn't like. John, the writer, has still not heard from William, but is pleased to hear that he's prosperous.
