Description [Letter text incomplete. It is uncertain whether this is an extract from a letter or the only surviving text from the original manuscript]. Author encloses the latest edition of "The Watchman" and wishes to know the accuracy of a report from "one of our English papers" that the negroes in the American slaves states were going to rise up and massacre the whites. He wishes that the poor of Ireland "were half so well off as the coloured folk with you", as they were suffering distress from unemployment and lack of any business throughout the UK.
